Trev Newnham

Trevor started playing bass at eight and was in the bar by quarter past nine!!

Born and raised in Hornchurch, Essex, Trev started playing drums while at secondary school because his best friend John had a drum kit and music room in his garden. John soon tired of Trev denting his heads so he suggested he learn bass guitar so they could form a band together. When his parents bought him a Marlin Sidewinder bass and a Laney Linebacker amp, Trev the bass player was born and the neighbours were annoyed!

Trev has enjoyed a varied career as a bass player/vocalist, with performance and recording credits including Sir Cliff Richard, Mary Wilson’s Supremes, The Foundations, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds (with brother Matt Newnham on drums), The Kursaal Flyers, Katrina (without the waves), and Plan B. Trev has also played on West End and touring shows such as Mamma Mia, Grease, Dancing in The Streets, Never Forget, I Love You Because and The Carpenters Story with Phil Aldridge.

Just prior to joining The Illegal Eagles, Trev completed a large chunk of the ‘Timeless’ world tour with Dr Hook featuring Dennis Locorriere. Trev also runs his own jazz trio, ‘Easy Company’, and plays with ‘The Queens Of Country Show’, which features his wife Sarah as vocalist.

In his spare time, Trev plays football for Hornchurch Vets FC and enjoys spending time with his family. Trev has two boys, Louie and Rocco. Baby Betsy was born during, yes during, the St Albans show! “I received a call from Sarah during sound-check and hightailed it home. We went straight to the hospital and Betsy was born twenty five minutes later!”

Trev plays Fender and Fret King basses. He is an endorsee of Laney Amplification and uses their Nexus Series amps and 4 x 10 cabs. Trev uses Dunlop Strings exclusively and would like to thank Gav & JHS for their continued support.

Trev uses L’Oreal hair products… he’s worth it!
